James M. WEGER was born about 1808/1809 in Tennessee. He appears to have been the oldest son of Abraham WEGER and Joycy FORD.
The family moved up into Illinois sometime in the 1820's-1830's and he married firstly Sally FORD on 7 Dec 1834 in Crawford County, Illinois. Two children were born to this marriage:
- George Price, b. 9 Sep 1835, d. 19 Sep 1873. (Married (1) Jemima Ann HEATH and (2) Catherine Jane HEATH).
- Cynthia Ann, b. 16 Feb 1837, d. 13 Oct 1896. (Married William Palmer FORD).
Sally died sometime between 1837 and Jan 1843. James married secondly Mary Ann THOMPSON on 24 Jan 1843 in Crawford County, Illinois. To this marriage was born 5 children:
- Elizabeth Ellen "Betsy", b. 6 Aug 1844, d. 1876. (Married William CARTER).
- Emmaline, b. 29 Jul 1846. (Married John H. FORD).
- William Riley, b. 27 Jan 1849.
- Mary Jane, b. 1 Feb 1854, d. 9 Jan 1881.
- James Maddison, 5 Oct 1856, d. 16 Jan 1917. (Married Mary Lucretia CARTER).
