It is believed by this researcher that Moses SIMMONS of Lee Co., Georgia is the father of Sarah D. SIMMONS, wife of John W. SHIVER. From the census below, he was born about 1812. His wife, Delilah, was born about 1811. I have recently discovered new information about Moses, which I haven't had time to post yet. It appears that Delilah passed away and he remarried and went over the border into Florida. More to come on that...

A Dooly County, Georgia 1860 census record, appears to be connected. It can be found below. A 24-year-old William SIMMONS is living on 3 houses away and is listed on the same page. He is listed as a Farmer, with the Jackson TOMBLIN family (wife Caroline, age 22 and son David, age 2) living with him (all 4 born in Georgia).
