Bessie J. (AULT) YORK Bessie J. AULT was born in Crawford County, Illinois on September 21, 1880, the daughter of Martin C. AULT and Minnie MCQUEEN. She married George W. YORK, date unknown. I think there were at least two children born to this union. Bessie died around 1920 in or around Robinson, Illinois.

My gr-gr-gr aunt Sarah LONG (b. ca 1853 OH) married John D. THOMAS in Elkhart Co., IN 12 Jan 1871. They migrated to Crawford Co., IL abt. 1884. Their children are: Samuel R. (b.12/1871, Goshen, Elkhart Co., IN), Letha b. ca 1873 and Elizabeth b. ca 1875-76. Samuel R. married Nellie NEWBOLD Oct 1896. Their sons are Frank N. and John D. THOMAS. Samuel THOMAS lost his right arm while in the Army, served two terms as Oblong mayor, supervisor Oblong Twp, clerk and postmaster 16 yr, two terms in IL Legislature and Internal Revenue Collector. In later years they moved to Florida for his health. Sister Letha married ? BLAKE. Sister Elizabeth married ? GILL, both of Oblong, IL. I'd like to exchange info. on parents: John and Sarah and get more info. on descendants.

Searching for descendants of Andrew J. PURCELL and Corena CRAWFORD. Corena was daughter of Caleb and Phebe KNIFFIN CRAWFORD. Died 1886 in Palestine. Two daughters and son born to family. The son died at 2 days of age. Daughter Catherine M. PURCELL married J. N. GRIMES, one child Corrine died as baby. She died at age 36. Was there any other children. Other daughter Phebe A. PURCELL married W. W. MARTIN. Phebe A. Died at age 31 in 1881. Did she have any children? There may not be any descendants.

Looking for info on a Jacob WOLFE b. 1815 in Va. According to the 1850 census, he was in Crawford Co. Il. md.to Susan LAMBERT b. 1825. They had three children: William H. b.1844 John H. b.1846 Emma J. b.1848 The 1860 census, he and Emma are not listed with family but there is another child Ida b.1857. Would like to find what happen to Jacob & Emma. And the name of Jacob's parents and their siblings.

I am seeking information on the parents, family and descendants of John W. BARLOW, a major in the Black Hawk War, b. c. 1784 m. Elizabeth GORDEN in Washington Co. KY. They moved to Crawford Co. IL c. 1816. Two known daughters: Nancy Owens BARLOW m. John Randolph HURST and settled in Hutsonville Twp. Her sister, Elizabeth BARLOW m. William H. STERRETT, an attorney. I have nothing on the STERRETT family, and really want to know how John W. BARLOW relates to the other BARLOW's in the area.

CONNET (CONNETT), THOMPSON, and JAMES I am looking for Pickett Price CONNETT, married a Martha THOMPSON; their daughter Clara CONNETT is my ggrandmother. Clara married a Thomas JAMES - I don't know marriage date, but Clara's dob is 25 Aug 1872, and she was born in Robinson, Crawford Co. Both Pickett (d 1898) and Martha (d 1879) died in Crawford Co, along with Pickett's mother, Rebecca Pickett CONNETT (d 1872), and Martha's mother, Rachael THOMPSON (d 1884/85). Any info, including info proving that they did, in fact have a daughter named Clara would be of great help. We are currently trying to prove family trees that have been done years ago.

Does anyone know what newspaper's were published during the years 1890 to 1930 in Palestine and Robinson, Crawford Co. I have part of an obituary for my g-g-uncle and would like to find the ending of it. His name is James L. GRIFFIN and he was married to Daisy PASLEY. They had 2 children, James L. Jr. and Jean GRIFFIN. Daisy died in 1924 in Robinson and James died June 1925 in Danville. Both are buried in Palestine Cemetery. I would also like to find information on the Christian Church of Palestine. My g-g-grandfather James L. GRIFFIN ( he was the father of James L. GRIFFIN, the above.) He was a pastor of the local Christian Church, would have to been before 1895 as that is the year he died. I have alot of GRIFFIN ancestors that were born and died in Crawford county and would very much like to find all I can about them. Any help with them and finding information on newspapers and churches will be appreicated and I would gladly share all the I have found thus far!

My late wife's family lived in Crawford Co. IL. Thomas FULLER & wife Susannah TORRENCE migrated from Dearborn Co., IN to Crawford Co., IL about 1820. I would like to obtain data both vital and historical about the FULLER clan and any about the TORRENCE relationship. Torrance - Susannah Torrence married Thomas Fuller 1801 and they moved from Dearborn co. Ind. to Crawford co. IL 1820. Nancy SHAW b 10 Oct 1824 daughter of Joseph SHAW & Narcissa MIDDLETON married Issac FULLER son of Thomas FULLER. Sarah Mitilda ADAMS was the second wife of George Washington FULLER son of Issac FULLER. Married 31 Aug 1871. His first wife was Sarah B BARRICK marriage date 1 Jan 1865. Sarah BARRICK b 15 May 1847 to Alexander McKamy BARRICK & Mary SEANEY. I have an interest in Olivia Rennick PICKLE daughter of Joseph PICKLE & Alice RENNICK. She was my wife's grandmother. She married James Lawrence FULLER.

Looking for Lewis & Malinda SCRUTCHFIELD/CRUTCHFIELD/SCRITCHFIELD (both born ca. 1808, he in PA, she in IN) who appear to have settled in the Hardinville area of Crawford Co. ca. 1850. Daughter Arminda (b. ca. 1836) married 1st Rhuny YATES prior to 1858 when their daughter Mary Ellen YATES is born. Rhuny dies or disappears (no further info on him) and Arminda remarries 2nd Shedric WILSON ca. 1863. This family is supposed to have moved to Vermilion Co. prior to moving to Pierce Co. WI in the 1870's. Lewis & Malinda had several children besides Arminda: John/Johnson born ca. 1828/29, Minerva b. ca. 1834, Solomon b. ca. 1837, Henry b. ca. 1842, Andrew b. ca. 1843, Martin b. ca. 1847, David b. ca. 1850 all in IN. Their eldest son, Johnson, was still living in the Hardinville area in the 1860 census and then in the 1880 Pierce Co. WI census next door to sister Arminda, but I can find no trace of Lewis or Malinda. Any info on this family would be greatly appreciated!

I recently received my father's birth certificate, and learned that his mother's name was Gladys MARTIN born around 1894 in Palestine, Crawford County, Illinois. She was married to a Julius SHAFFER and they had at least one son (my father) Paul Martin SHAFFER in 1921. Rumor has it there were also two daughters born to Gladys and Julius. I have been searching for quite sometime and have had no luck. It is almost like they never existed. Any help anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated.

William CLARK and his wife Susan JEWEL came to Crawford County, IL from Kentucky (40 miles from Louisville) in a covered wagon sometime before 1856. They built a log cabin on a section of land. They gave a plot of ground to the community to build a school, later called CLARK School because William was the first teacher. William's brother was Washington CLARK and he lived in Kentucky. William and Susan's children were Dudley B. CLARK who married Jeanette Ann Darnold in 1877 in Crawford CO; General CLARK, who married Jewell; Tom CLARK who married Jane; Mary CLARK who married a CONOVER; and Emily CLARK, who married a NEAL. Can anyone give me any additional information about William CLARK or his ancestors?

GOWAN - I am looking for Isaac GOWAN born around 1778, he was married to Clata ? Reported to be from Kentucky. They had a daughter named Winna, she married Ezekial ANDERSON, my ggggggrandfather. Winna and Ezekial appear on the 1830 Lawrence Co. census and the 1840 Adams Co. census. And finally in Michigan until their deaths.
