Obituary of Bertha (SWEET) WELCH.
Bertha Sweet, daughter of George and Laura Sweet was born in Martinville township of Clark county, Ill., on February 24, 1879, and departed this life on July 11, 1930, Prairie township, Crawford county, at the age of 51 years, 4 months and 17 days.
In November 1896 she was united in marriage to Roe Welch of Orange township in Clark county and to this union were born seven children, four sons and three daughters, all of whom are living except one daughter, Cecil preceded her in death seven years ago.
Most of her life has been spent in Clark county, until about three years ago, when she and her husband bought a farm near Annapolis.
She leaves to mourn her going, besides her husband, six children as follows: Wayne and Jessie at home, Ned and Francis of Prairie township, Mrs. Cellia Dodd of Melrose, and Glenn of Toledo, Ohio. One brother, Pearl Sweet of Katchum, Okla., and two grandchildren, besides a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at the home near Annapolis Sunday morning at 10 o'clock conducted by R.C. Mowery of Oblong and interment made in the family lot at the Marshall cemetery.

Obituary of William C. WESLEY.
Son of John and Mary Ann Wesley was born October 28, 1849, departed this life February 14, 1919, age 69 years, 3 months and 17 days. On December 23, 1875, he was married to Serena J. McKamey, who survives. To this union were born ten children, Mrs. Elsie A., wife of Ernest T. Oldham, of Robinson, Ill.; Mrs. Mattie, wife of Russell Mefford, of Oak Ridge; Elmer, William, Fred of Eldorado, Edward, Earl, Erskin of Camp Custer, Mich., Myrtle and Ethel preceding him in death. He leaves to mourn his departure a faithful wife, eight children, six grandchildren, two brothers, John and Elijah and other relatives and friends. He united with the United Brethren church at Union in 1865, later moving his membership to M.E. church at Oak Ridge.

Obituary of Catherine (STROHL) IKEMIRE, published in The Robinson Argus, 8 Apr 1925, pg. 5.
Catherine (Strohl) Ikemire, the subject of this sketch, was the daughter of Henry and Susannah Strohl, and was born March 7, 1851, in Terry county, Ohio; departed this life March 29, 1925; aged 74 years, 3 weeks and one day. She was united in marriage to Jered Ikemire March 28, 1878, and to this union was born six children, five daughters and one son. One daughter and her husband having preceded her in death, those surviving her are as folllows: Mrs. Myra Newlin, of San Jose, Calif.; Mrs. Ora Newlin, and the one son, Brezelia of Eaton, with whom she lived. Three sisters, Mrs. John Brent, of Annapolis; Mrs. M. S. Price, of Robinson, and Mrs. H. M. Ikemire of Brazil, Ind. Two brothers, William, of Oblong, and John, of Brazil, Ind. Five sisters having preceded her in death. She leaves 11 grandchildren and one great grand child, and a host of relatives and friends to mourn her death.
"Dearest mother, thou hast left us;
Here thy loss we deeply deel.
But tis God that hath bereft us,
He can all our sorrows heal."
Funeral services were held at the Prairie Chapel southwest of Porterville Tuesday, March 31, at 11 o'clock, attended by a large concourse of people; burial in cemetery nearby. Services were conducted by Eld. T. J. Wheeler, of Robinson.
Editor's Note: You may notice in the Ikemire obit, it says Catherine had five daughters and one son, one daughter preceding her in death. Then it names the survivors and only names two daughters and one son. I'm not perfect, I do make mistakes, but not in this case.

Obituary of Emma Josephine (WEGER) ALLISON, published in The Robinson Argus, 8 Apr 1925, pg. 5.
Emma Josephine Weger, daughter of John P. and Lavina Weger, was born Dec. 19, 1870, died March 28, 1925; aged 54 years, 3 months and 9 days. She was married to Henry Allison, April 3, 1895. To this union was born one son, William Weger Allison, who, with the husband survive her. Her father and one sister having preceded her in death. Her aged mother living in Flat Rock, Ill.; two brothers, namely John O., of Flat Rock, Ill.; Carl C. of Robinson, Ill.; and one sister, Mrs. Louise Hurst, of Hutsonville, Ill., survive her, besides a host of relatives and friends.
She accepted the Master when she was just a girl, uniting with the M.E. church at Dollahan Chapel, Lawrence county, Illinois, where she was an active worker in the church for eight years. She with husband and son moved from the Allison homestead east of Birds, Lawrence county, Illinois, to Flat Rock, Ill. in August, 1900. After having moved to Flat Rock she again united with the M.E. church under the postorate of the Rev. George R. Goodman and remained a tireless worker until called to her reward. Her Christian life was exemplified "seven days in the week." Her zeal for the church was manifest to all who knew her. Her religion was a great solace to her, not only in life, but at the "very crossing."

Obituary of Mrs. Verna E. CAMPBELL, published on 12 Sep 1978.
Funeral services for Mrs. Verna E. Campbell, 89, Rural Route Four, Sullivan, Ind., who died at 4:40 p.m. Sunday at her residence, will he held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Alexander Funeral Home with Rev. Carl Owens and Rev. John Robbins officiating. Burial will be in Drake Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home in Sullivan.
Mrs. Campbell was a member of Turman Township Birthday Club and the Get Together Club.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Enid Case, rural Sullivan, Mrs. Helen Stanfield, Palestine, and Mrs. Ruby Heidenreich, Carlisle; a sister, Mrs. Flossie Osburn, Carlisle; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude, in 1941.

Samuel Raymond Nash, 79, Florence, Ariz., formerly of Palestine, died Tuesday evening while visiting his daughter at Birmingham, Alabama.
He is survived by his daughter, Lola Hofbaur, Birmingham; a son, Jack Nash, Robinson; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Wilma Weger, Mesa, Ariz. and Edna Parker, Sandusky, Mich; a brother, Luther Nash, Kouts, Indiana.
Arrangements are pending at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Palestine.

Obituary of Vernon W. BUTLER, published 14 Sep 1978.
Vernon W. Butler, 87, resident of Cotillion Ridge Nursing Home, Robinson, died at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday at Crawford Memorial Hospital. He was a retired farmer, born at Robinson Sept. 14, 1890, son of the late William and Ada Powell Butler. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the Jehovah Witness Church.
He is survived by nieces and nephews and several cousins.
Arrangements are pending at Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson.

Obituary of Chester BUCK, published 18 Sep 1978.
Chester A. Buck, 82, Route One, Oblong, died at 4:15 p.m. Sunday at Crawford Memorial Hospital. He was born in Oblong Aug. 23, 1896, son of the late William Buck and Mary Huckaba. He was married to Lela Way at Willow Hill Nov. 16, 1921 and was a retired farmer. He attended Central United Methodist Church, Oblong.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Mrs. John (Mary) Helm, Oblong; two grandchildren, Rita Helm, St. Louis, and Todd Helm, Oblong. He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Pulliam Funeral Home, Oblong, with Rev. Eugene Black officiating. Burial will be in the Oblong Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Obituary of Opal Leona (SIMONS) RICH, published 14 Sep 1978.
Opal Leona Simons Rich, youngest daughter of Levi and Martha Bell Allison Simons, was born Dec. 22, 1909 and departed this life August 21, 1978 at the age of 69 years, seven months and 20 days.
September 21, 1942, she was united in marriage to James Redman Rich and to this union two children were born: a son, Larry Jo, and a daughter, Rita Diane.
She attended church in her early life and in months passed by had many visits from wonderful ministers and confessed to them and her dear family that the time was near and she was ready.
She was a true, loving wife and mother, loved and enjoyed her home and children and one little granddaughter, whom she dearly loved, although she spent only a few months with her.
She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, James; her son, Larry Jo; daughter, Rita and son-in-law, Randal Garrard; and her granddaughter, Melissa Renee Garrard; five sisters, Mrs. Gladys Rich, Mrs. Loren (Rudy) Catt, Mrs. Harold (Dale) Jordan, Mrs. Della Ford and Mrs. Kenneth (Agnes) Earnhart; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Bernice Simons; and three brothers-in-law. Her mother, father, three sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.
She will be sadly missed by her family, her relatives, friends and neighbors and all who knew her.

Obituary of Mary Katherine (MIKEWORTH) RICH, published 22 Feb 1980.
Mary Katherine Rich, 93, United Methodist Village, former Hardinville resident, died at 5:45 p.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Village, Lawrenceville.
She was born in Martin Township, July 7, 1886, daughter of James L. and Mahalah Moyer Mikeworth and was a member of the Hardinville United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one son, John Raymond, Oblong; three daughters, Mrs. Rueben (Gertie) Shipman, Mrs. Harlan (Francis) Catt, both of rural Robinson, Mrs. Joe (Rosa) Steinman, Oblong; one brother, Roy Mikeworth, Oblong, nine grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles in 1940, one son in infancy, one daughter, Mrs. Luther (Orpha) Weger in 1975 and two sisters, Minerva Leeds and Stella Mikeworth.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Hardinville United Methodist Church with interment in the Hardinville Cemetery.
Friends may call Saturday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Pulliam Funeral Home in Oblong.
